What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation and healing technique.
Reiki is both a therapeutic practice and a technique of well-being.
Simple and natural, it allows to channel and transmit energy by the hands.

What does the term “Reiki” mean?
Reiki means “life energy”. The word comes from the Japanese Rei (universal energy – the one around us) and Ki (vital energy – that which is present in us, in all living beings).

Does Reiki replace traditional medicine care?
Reiki can provide additional benefits by supporting and improving the overall condition of the person, but it can never replace medical treatment. Reiki does not establish a diagnosis.

How does Reiki work?
The practitioner concentrates the energy of Reiki and transmits it through the application/imposition of his hands.
The energy then flows throughout the body to relieve, re-harmonise and revitalise the person.

Should we believe in Reiki?
To receive a Reiki treatment remains a simple and natural act. It is not necessary to “believe” in Reiki, or to adopt a particular concentration to benefit from its benefits.

Does Reiki cure diseases?
Reiki is not about treating an illness or a part of the body, but treating the person as a whole. Reiki is here to support and stimulate natural abilities. It allows a reinforcement and a contribution of energy but does not exempt from a follow-up and a medical treatment.

Are there any risks to using Reiki?
No, there is no risk or contraindication to using Reiki, however a person suffering from a pathology must always consult a health professional and not be limited to Reiki care alone.

Is Reiki compatible with another therapy?
Reiki is a natural therapy perfectly compatible and complementary to other existing therapies (allopathy, homeopathy, osteopathy, body therapies, psychotherapy, etc)

Is Reiki compatible with drugs?
Reiki is compatible with drugs and does not hinder their action. It can also reduce the side effects of drugs. It is important to not stop your medical treatments during a Reiki cure.

Is Reiki a cult or a religion?
Reiki is neither a sect nor a religion. It contains neither dogma nor doctrine. The patient is free of his convictions. Reiki does not belong to anyone and is not reserved for a particular group but is accessible to all. Moreover, Reiki does not reject or exclude any therapy.

Are there any physical manipulations during a Reiki session?
No. There is simply a light touch or at a distance with the hands.

How long is a session?
A Reiki session lasts about an hour. For children and seniors, the sessions are shorter and last from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Speaking time can also be spent at the end of the session, if the person wishes, to discuss how she felt during the treatment. This space time is left to the discretion of everyone and is not essential to the effectiveness of the session.

How to prepare for a Reiki session?
There is no special preparation to plan before a Reiki session. Just plan in your agenda what time you agree. After the session, however, it is advisable to hydrate in order to facilitate the cleaning and regeneration processes.

How many sessions are needed?
It is not always possible to answer such a question in advance. Sufficiently beneficial effects can be felt from the first session. However, when the ills, the tensions are present for a long time, it is reasonable to envisage a minimum of four close sessions. This allows the body to rebalance globally and in depth. Then, the sessions can be spaced.

The number of sessions required, however, remains at the discretion of each according to his feelings, his expectations and his personal needs.
